MEGA FAMILY CHALLAH BAKE
Michigan Jewish Family Festival ~ Lag Baomer
May 16, 2025 · 4:30-6:30 PM
Chabad Lubavitch of Michigan is proud to present the Michigan Jewish Family Festival’s Mega Family Challah Bake!
The festival celebrates Jewish identity, promotes community friendship, warmth and unity in Metro-Detroit, and welcomes people of all ages, religions and backgrounds.
The festival is in honor of the Jewish Holiday Lag Baomer which celebrates the anniversary of the passing of the great sage and mystic Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, author of the Zohar. It also commemorates the disciples of the great sage Rabbi Akiva and his message of brotherly love. More info about Lag Baomer here.
Beginning in the 1950s, the Lubavitcher Rebbe, of righteous memory, encouraged Jewish children to join together in grand Lag BaOmer parades as a show of Jewish unity and pride. To this day, Chabad organizes hundreds of Lag BaOmer parades and celebrations around the world every year.
This year, the Festival is also a display of Jewish unity and support for our brothers in sisters in the Holy Land of Israel with community prayers for safety of Jews in Israel and around the world.
This year’s main attraction for adults and children alike is a Mega Family Challah Bake. We will also be serving delicious pre-Shabbat refreshments and have a number of exciting activities for children including bounce houses, a giant slide, balloon twisting, clowns, marshmallow roasting and more! Pre-register and save here!
This event is hosted in partnership with The Shul - Chabad Lubavitch, Chabad of Bingham Farms, Chabad of Royal Oak, Friendship Circle, Chabad of Troy, Chabad of Bloomfield Hills along with sponsors Jewish Federation of Detroit, Think Sweet and DTE.
